A Tavola!
A Tavola! is a project created in 2017 in collaboration with the italian artist Sara Basta, developed within a condominium in the suburbs of Paris (18th arrondissement), produced by the Cultural Association Art-Exprim within the Festival “Art en Espace Public” .
All around a large table, built as an embroidery frame, the inhabitants of the building, adults and children, sat together for a big “lunch”. The food, instead of eaten, was drawn and embroidered on a large white tablecloth. Through the sewing, the tablecloth was filled with their favourite dishes, with the stories that the food tell us, with the memories of traditional recipes, with the countries of which the food speaks to us. With a slow and patient rhythm, marked by embroidery, the relations between the neighbours were re-stitched.
