Sabatina Leccia
Sabatina Leccia is a french artist born in 1984 who lives and works in Montreuil.
In 2012, she graduated from the MA Material Futures at Central Saint Martin’s School of Art and Design, London. There, she began to develop experimental embroidery. Before setting up her workshop in Montreuil, she worked as an embroiderer for Haute Couture. In 2015, she began to exhibit these first embroidered paintings at the Amélie de Borchgrave gallery in Brussels and from there she carried out numerous artistic projects: Artistic residency in Estonia, collaboration with Fabrique Nomade in 2017, then in 2019 she was called by Maison Patou to embroider the costume of academician Barbara Cassin.
Today, her work, which combines photographs and drawings, is represented by Galerie XII.
Alongside her personal projects, In 2022 she has started a new collaboration with the French photographer Clara Chichin. Their project “the rustle between the walls” was rewarded with the Transverse Award in November 2022 and received the support of the DRAC île de France 2023. Their project has been published by sun/sun editions in November 2024.
In 2024–2025, she was selected for the Excellence in Crafts Residency, in collaboration with the Nicéphore Niépce Museum in Chalon-sur-Saône and the fashion department of Émiland-Gauthey High School.
She also leads numerous workshops, influenced by her artistic practice, in a variety of contexts: in correctional facilities, as well as in high schools, notably within the framework of the PREAC programs, among others.
